Coaches :: KC Emerson
In 1989, KC was hired to run the Fastlane program by original owner Lesley Beatson. KC took over the company in 1991; expanding to include a winter program at St. George's School pool.
KC has a Masters degree in Coaching Sciences from UBC and was an assistant coach with Triathlon Canada's National Team from 1993 to 1997. She's also spent many years coaching summer and winter club youth swimmers and masters competitors.
KC's first love is swimming (particularly at Kits Pool) but her passion grew to include triathlon. In addition to successes in record-setting open water swims (Skaha Lake, Windermere Lake) and at age group & varsity swimming, KC competed at Triathlon World Championships and was awarded 1997’s Triathlon Canada Age Group Athlete of the Year. She has also been a keen volunteer with TriBC, acting as a Board member (Vice President 1993-2008) and official, as well as continuing in her role of Provincial Advisor to the BC Summer Games.
In 2010 KC was the proud recipient of Sport BC’s Daryl Thompson Award for all-round contribution/involvement in her sport!
While not coaching, administrating, or actually swimming, biking and running herself, KC is an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology at Langara College.
"I believe that consistency, flexibility and enthusiam are key for adult athletes to make progress in the water. At Fastlane, we encourage everyone to set and reach their goals while balancing busy lifestyles."
